Diwali table decor ideas that glow

The Diwali meal is the heart of the evening. These ideas dress the table without crowding the food.
1. Start with a centerpiece
One statement piece in the middle anchors everything else. Jashn is a ring of breathing diyas around a tall centre flame in antique gold, and Jashn Peacock is a peacock urli. Both are battery powered, so there is no wax or open flame near the food.
2. Float flowers in an urli
An urli, the wide, shallow bowl, filled with water and floating marigolds or rose petals is a classic. Jashn Peacock doubles as one: float petals around its flame.
3. Run diyas down the table
Space small diyas along the runner, one every couple of plates. Rechargeable diyas are safe beside sleeves and dupattas and won't drip onto the cloth.
4. Use a runner with a festive border
Silk, brocade or a simple block-printed runner in red, gold or deep green sets the colour story.
5. Add marigold garlands and loose petals
Drape garlands along the edge or scatter petals around the centerpiece for colour and scent.
6. Keep it low
Keep everything below eye level so guests can see each other across the table.
